Overview

The 2004 Mercury Marauder is one of the few vehicles that remind one of the “muscle-car era”. This high-performance full-size sedan from Mercury got its name from a hot model of that era. The rear-wheel-drive Marauder with its 4.6-liter V-8 engine, is now available in other colors also rather than black only. The engineers and designers have worked a lot to make the drive of the latest Marauder smoother and more pleasant. Better response at low engine speeds is guaranteed by the Dual knock sensors. Marauder gets an improved shift response from the new, heavy-duty, four-speed-automatic transmission.

Mercury Marauder Interior

The 2004 Mercury Marauder can accommodate comfortably up to five passengers at a time. Front and rear occupants have ample space, which is one of the plus points of a full-size performance sedan. The main highlight of the interior section of this latest vehicle is its two-tone feature. White-faced gauges have a 7,000-rpm tachometer, along with a 140-mph speedometer. Auto Meter oil-pressure and voltage gauges are placed in front of the leather-wrapped floor-mounted gearshift lever. Leather upholstery seats are accented with classic French seam stitching. For improving thigh, lumbar and shoulder support, the seats have extra padding. A modern version of the Mercury god’s head can be found on the front seat-backs. For entertainment, there is a standard Audiophile stereo with cassette and CD players. A trunk-mounted six-CD changer, heated seats and a trunk organizer are also available but as optional features.

Mercury Marauder Exterior

Earlier, the Marauder models were mostly finished in glossy black, but for 2004 line-up, two exciting body colors- Dark Toreador Red and Silver Birch are also available. The Marauder measures 212 inches in length wise and it rides on a 114.7-inch wheelbase. As compared to the Grand Marquis’ measurements, it is 2 inches taller. Stainless-steel exhaust tips that measures 3.5-inch are put in the rear site, and the Marauder name is embossed on the back bumper. The Mercury logo can be noticed on the five-spoke forged-aluminum wheels with 18-inch performance tires. The front fascia is integrated with Cibie fog lamps. Under the hood, there is 4.6-liter V-8 engine that gives 302 horsepower and 318 pounds-feet of torque. The engine is mated with a four-speed-automatic transmission. The Marauder is quite enjoyable on the road and it delivers a more satisfying ride than other high-performance machines.

Car Reviews

2004 Stratus
“After driving Merc GM and Ford CV for many years, I was looking for a more powerful machine. The Marauder has it all. I simply love it. I have been driving my Marauder for a little over 2 years now and have no plans to change it.”
